Key milestones in our club's development from foundation to championship success.
It began with a small circle of friends - former teammates from local amateur clubs, colleagues from workplaces, and local residents who shared a common yearning for regular football activity. Weekly training sessions focused on recreation, fitness, and rekindling the joy of playing without competitive pressures.
The pivotal moment arrived when the group decided to test their mettle against other teams. Gathigiri prisons management offered them a regular pitch for organized matches. Through friendly matches with similar clubs, they realized there was a gap in local football for older players, leading to the official formation of Mwea Legends Football Club.
A founding committee was established with Gudson Muchina as patron, Ndiga Njeru as chairman, and Julius Mutugi as organizing secretary, along with Patrick Mwangi as treasurer and Joseph Kenyatta to spearhead organizational efforts. The club began recruiting additional players of similar age and mindset, seeking affiliation with local football associations.
Today, Mwea Legends Football Club continues to thrive as a testament to its enduring foundation. It stands as more than just a football team; it is a community, a social hub, and a living embodiment of the belief that the love for football truly has no age limit. The club enjoys competitive spirit through friendly matches while maintaining focus on recreation and camaraderie.
